Set up to meet training needs in that area, the Master’s program in Engineering option Water and Sanitation enables to train highly qualified executives capable of understanding, analyzing needs, planning, implementing and managing water and sanitation programs leaning on innovative tools and approaches Teachings proposed help to acquire technical skills in the fields of: drinking water treatment (quality improvement process and preservation sanitation (liquid and solid), entrepreneurship (Environmental management, natural resources Management)

It is a joint training and run by a permanent teaching team of 2iE’s lab of Water, Ecosystem Depollution and Health, and associated faculty members from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale, Lausanne (Switzerland), the University Montpellier 2, France and, water and sanitation professionals from various African countries, major groups such as TOTAL and professionals from mining companies.

 

The Master of Engineering, with a Major in Water and Sanitation allows to acquire the following skills: Master water cycle and quality analysis methods.

Technical Skills

  • Mastering the techniques of water treatment (potabilization, waste waters, solid waste) and waste
  • Planning treatments adapted to specific contaminations
  • Designing, dimensioning and setting up sanitation and works networks
  • Designing, dimensioning and managing works and drinking water distribution networks
  • Carrying out environmental evaluations of development projects

Managerial and entrepreneurial skills

  • Developing a corporate business/development plan
  • Developing a strategy plan
  • Setting up an innovative company in the water and sanitation area
  • Developing a project and a fundraising document
  • Writing a document for tenders
  • Carrying out a financial analysis for investment decision-making
  • Managing a project team
  • Supervising the administrative and financial monitoring of water and sanitation sites
  • Conducting a business negotiation
  • Providing a corporate responsible management

The Master’s program in Engineering option Water and Sanitation is open to applicants holding: Science-and technique-based high school diploma (Senior Secondary School Certificate, GCE/ O/Level and A/Level with credits in Mathematics, Physics and Science/Integrated Science, or a West African Senior School Certificate Examinations) to be registered in 1st year of Bachelor (study period: 5 years) Two-year university degree in science- or technique-based areas, a Bachelor’s degree or any other equivalent degree to get registered in 3rd year of Bachelor in science (study period: 3 years) Science-based Master’s Degree, civil Engineer’s degree (3 years after high school degree), or any other equivalent degree to get registered in 1st year of Master’s program (study period: 2 years) The selection is based upon application review depending on the number of available places per class and session.
